The Supreme Court received six writ petitions by Tuesday afternoon, October 14, challenging the dissolution of the House of Representatives, as it resumed the registration of such petitions.
More petitions are expected, following the court’s decision to reopen regular proceedings.
The court had halted all activities—except for habeas corpus and urgent applications—after arson, vandalism, stone pelting and looting during the Gen Z-led protest on September 9 left it in charred ruin.
According to Supreme Court spokesperson Arjun Prasad Koirala, the petitions were under review for registration.
A full court meeting of all justices, including Chief Justice Prakashman Singh Raut, held on October 12, had decided to resume writ registration and hearings beginning Tuesday.
