FM Khanal Engages U.S. Business Leaders, Holds Meetings with IMF and World Bank Officials

Finance Minister Rameshore Khanal on Monday, October 13, addressed a business dialogue organised by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Speaking at the event titled “From the Himalayas to the Heartland: Strengthening the U.S.–Nepal Partnership”, Minister Khanal outlined Nepal’s current economic situation. Nepal’s Ambassador to the United States Lok Darshan Regmi and embassy officials accompanied Khanal.

Earlier in the day, he held discussions with IMF Deputy Managing Director Bo Li. The meeting, attended by Nepal Rastra Bank Governor Dr Bishwanath Poudel, embassy representatives, members of the minister’s delegation, and IMF officials, focused on key financial and economic issues.

The minister also met Johannes Zutt, the World Bank’s Vice President for the South Asia Region. According to the Nepali Embassy in Washington, the discussions reviewed ongoing programmes supported by the World Bank and explored potential areas for future cooperation and partnership.

Khanal reached Washington, D.C., Sunday, October 12, to participate in the annual meetings of the World Bank and the IMF.
