NEPSE Drops 0.89%

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index fell 0.89%, or 22.58 points, on Wednesday, October 15, closing at 2,505.58. This follows a 0.76% decline on Tuesday, a 1.76% gain on Monday, and a 3.05% drop on Sunday.

Market turnover also eased, reaching Rs 3.10 billion, down from Rs 3.36 billion on Tuesday and Rs 4.97 billion on Monday. 

A total of 7,611,660 shares were traded across 35,750 transactions.

All major sub-indices ended in negative territory. The Sensitive Index slipped 0.66%, the Float Index dropped 0.80%, and the Sensitive Float Index declined 0.70%. 

Among the traded companies, 206 shares fell, 40 advanced, and five remained unchanged.

Samata Gharelu Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (SMATA) was the top gainer of the day, surging 6.93%. On the other hand, Samaj Laghubittya Bittiya Sanstha Limited (SAMAJ) and Bindhyabasini Hydropower Development Company Limited (BHDC) hit the lowest circuit limit, emerging as the day’s top losers.

Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited (NRIC) led the turnover chart, followed by Himalayan Reinsurance Limited (HRL) and Union Hydropower Limited (UNHPL).

Of the 13 sectoral indices, only the Mutual Fund index closed higher, gaining 0.24%, while the Trading Index recorded the steepest loss, falling 2.09%.

Total market capitalization declined to Rs 4,188.67 billion from Rs 4,226.42 billion on Tuesday.
