The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has introduced air ticket discounts of up to 80% for senior citizens.

A meeting held Sunday, October 19, decided that citizens aged 70 and above will be eligible for discounts ranging from 50% to 80% on domestic flights.

CAAN Director General Pradeep Adhikari chaired the meeting. The Chairman of the Airlines Operators’ Association of Nepal and representatives from Nepal’s domestic airlines participated.

Citizens over 70 years of age will receive a 50% discount on all domestic routes, based on the maximum airfare set by the federal government. Those aged 75 and above will receive a 70% discount, while those over 80 will be eligible for an 80% discount. For senior citizens with disabilities, a minimum 50% discount has been ensured.

The move aims to promote inclusivity and accessibility in air travel.

Airlines have been instructed to implement the discounts immediately, and all domestic carriers are required to comply without delay.
