Government authorities have restricted vehicular movement along the BP Highway and the Mid-Hill Highway during nighttime due to an increased risk of floods and landslides following continuous rainfall.
According to the District Administration Office (DAO), Sindhuli, the restriction took effect on Thursday night and will remain in force until Friday night.
Issuing a public notice on Thursday, the DAO instructed all stakeholders to comply with the order, which bans vehicle movement between Sindhuli and Kathmandu from 5:00 pm to 5:00 am for two days starting from October 30.
Assistant Chief District Officer Anuj Bhandari urged the public to avoid traveling during the restricted hours except for emergencies. He said that authorities might suspend traffic at any point if heavy rainfall occurs during the day. Vehicles will be stopped at Khurkot Bazar during the night, he added.
Officials said the measure aims to ensure passenger safety and prevent possible accidents or loss of life. -- RSS
