The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index slipped 0.31 percent, or 8.24 points, to close at 2,622.89 on Monday, November 3, ending a two-day winning streak.
Daily turnover also fell sharply on the second trading day of the week. A total of 12.18 million shares worth Rs 6.05 billion were traded across 54,892 transactions, down from 29.7 million shares worth Rs 9.20 billion exchanged in 68,112 transactions on Sunday.
All three major sub-indices — Sensitive, Float, and Sensitive Float — closed in the red, down 0.18 percent, 0.31 percent, and 0.14 percent, respectively. Of the traded companies, 172 declined, 72 advanced, and 5 remained unchanged.
Muktinath Krishi Company Limited (MKCL) and Excel Development Bank Limited (EDBL) were the day’s top gainers, climbing 9.99 percent and 9.98 percent, respectively. Eastern Hydropower Limited (EHPL) hit a negative circuit, emerging as the biggest loser of the day.
In terms of turnover, Shivam Cements Limited (SHIVM) led the market, with 619,114 shares worth Rs 376.82 million traded. NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited (NRN) followed with Rs 339.49 million, while Radhi Bidyut Company Limited (RADHI) recorded Rs 246.19 million.
Among 13 sectoral indices, six closed higher. The Trading Index led with a 0.93 percent gain, followed by Others (0.42%), Mutual Fund (0.29%), Manufacturing and Processing (0.25%), Development Bank (0.11%), and Hotels and Tourism (0.01%).
Conversely, the Hydropower and Life Insurance indices saw the steepest declines, each falling 1.05 percent. Other losers included Banking (-0.22%), Finance (-0.12%), Investment (-0.70%), Microfinance (-0.63%), and Non-life Insurance (-0.01%).
Overall market capitalisation declined to Rs 4,384.78 billion from Rs 4,398.57 billion the previous day.
