Chandragiri Hills Resumes Operations After Two-Month Closure

Chandragiri Hills resumed operations on Saturday morning, November 8, after a two-month closure caused by damage during the September 9 Gen Z protest.

The cable car and resort services had remained suspended after the bottom station sustained extensive damage during vandalism linked to the protest.

In a statement issued on Friday, Chandragiri Hills said it had completed all necessary repairs, safety tests, and additional inspections with the assistance of senior technical experts from Doppelmayr, the Austrian cable car manufacturer.

Located on the outskirts of the Kathmandu Valley, Chandragiri Hills is a popular integrated destination featuring a luxury resort, cable car, and various recreational facilities. It also holds religious significance as the site of the Bhaleshwar Mahadev Temple.

Before the temporary shutdown, about 2,000 devotees and tourists used the cable car service daily, according to the company.
