The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index fell 1.15 percent, or 30.02 points, on Sunday, November 9, to close at 2,566.09 points.
The benchmark had declined 0.43 percent Thursday, November 6, the last trading day of the week.
After gaining 1.18 percent last Sunday, the market lost momentum, dropping 0.31 percent Monday and 1.05 percent Tuesday, before posting a mild 0.46 percent recovery Wednesday.
Turnover also weakened as the market opened the new week. Total trading value stood at Rs 4.90 billion, down from Rs 5.41 billion recorded last Thursday.
A total of 10.61 million shares were traded through 47,268 transactions, compared to 10.86 million shares across 50,437 transactions in the previous session.
All major sub-indices closed lower. The Sensitive Index slipped 1.30 percent, the Float Index 1.36 percent, and the Sensitive Float Index 1.44 percent.
Out of the traded companies, 29 advanced, 222 declined, and one remained unchanged.
Daramkhola Hydro Energy Limited (DHEL) was the day’s top gainer, soaring 9.99 percent, while Unnati Sahakarya Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (USLB) hit the lower circuit limit to become the top loser.
Union Hydropower Limited (UNHPL) topped the turnover chart, followed by Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited (NRIC) and NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited (NRN).
All 13 sectoral indices ended in negative territory, with the Finance Index posting the steepest drop of 2.91 percent. The Others Index recorded the smallest loss, slipping 0.12 percent.
Overall market capitalisation decreased to Rs 4,298.22 billion from Rs 4,345.93 billion last Thursday.
