The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) announced on Saturday, November 15, that preparations for the second season of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) are complete. The franchise-based T20 tournament will begin Monday at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground and run until December 13.

The prize money remains unchanged from the first season, according to Paras Khadka, General Secretary, CAN. But, this edition will feature more than half of its matches under floodlights, set up for the first time at the TU Ground. Spectators will also have access to a newly built parapet with seating for up to 10,000 people.

In the inaugural season, the Janakpur Bolts won the trophy and Rs 11 million in prize money. The runner-up, Sudurpaschim Royals, received Rs 5.1 million. Karnali Yaks, finishing third, earned Rs 2.5 million, while Chitwan Rhinos, who came fourth, won Rs 1.5 million.

The same eight franchise teams will compete this year. The season opens with a match between the Janakpur Bolts and the Kathmandu Gurkhas at 4 PM. Tickets for the inaugural game have already sold out. CAN expects this season to surpass last year in scale and excitement.
