NEPSE Falls 0.19% Amid Weak Market Turnover

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) slipped 0.19 percent, or 4.98 points, on Wednesday, November 19, closing at 2,561.08. 

The decline comes after the benchmark index posted gains in the previous two sessions, rising 0.38 percent on Monday and 0.61 percent on Tuesday. On Sunday, however, NEPSE had registered a 0.20 percent drop.

Market activity also weakened alongside the index. Daily turnover reached Rs 3.77 billion, with over 8.38 million shares traded across 50,626 transactions. In comparison, Tuesday saw more than 9.25 million shares exchanged in 55,277 transactions, totaling Rs 4.10 billion.

All three major sub-indices recorded losses. The Sensitive Index fell 0.28 percent, the Float Index declined 0.29 percent, and the Sensitive Float Index dropped 0.30 percent. 

Of the total securities traded, 77 advanced, 170 declined, and 9 remained unchanged.

Mabilung Energy Limited (MABEL) and Daramkhola Hydro Energy Limited (DHEL) hit the upper circuit limit, emerging as the top gainers of the day. Conversely, Corporate Development Bank Limited (CORBL) suffered the steepest loss, sliding 6.03 percent.

Barun Hydropower Co. Ltd. (BARUN) led the turnover chart with Rs 274.04 million, followed by Sahas Urja Limited (SAHAS) at Rs 196.05 million and Radhi Bidyut Company Ltd (RADHI) at Rs 159.48 million.

Among sectoral indices, four posted gains while the rest closed in the red. The Hotels and Tourism Index recorded the highest surge at 1.16 percent, whereas the Development Bank Index suffered the sharpest decline of 1.09 percent.

Total market capitalization stood at Rs 4,300.12 billion, down from Rs 4,308.49 billion in the previous session.
