NEPSE Opens Week Strong With Robust Gains Across Sectors

Daily turnover rose to Rs 6.28 billion, up from Rs 4.68 billion on the previous trading day

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) surged 1.55 percent on Sunday, November 23, gaining 39.92 points to close at 2,600.22.

Market activity strengthened notably on the week’s first trading day, with over 13 million shares changing hands across 76,028 transactions. Daily turnover rose to Rs 6.28 billion, up from Rs 4.68 billion on the previous trading day. 

Of the traded companies, 237 advanced, 18 declined, and two remained unchanged.

All three key sub-indices ended higher: Sensitive Index (+1.73 percent); Float Index (+1.74 percent) and Sensitive Float Index (+1.78%).

Sagar Distillery Limited (SAGAR) was the day’s top gainer, hitting the upper circuit, while Peoples Hydropower Company Limited (PHCL) became the biggest loser, dropping 7.65 percent.

In terms of turnover, NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited (NRN) led the market, followed by Peoples Hydropower Company Limited (PHCL) and Radhi Bidyut Company Ltd (RADHI).

Among the 13 sectoral indices, the life insurance and investment subgroups recorded the strongest gains, rising 2.55 percent and 2.03 percent, respectively. The mutual fund subgroup was the only laggard, edging down 0.23 percent.

Total market capitalization increased to Rs 4,365.82 billion from Rs 4,298.78 billion last Thursday.
