Kathmandu Gorkhas defeated Chitwan Rhinos by 53 runs in the Nepal Premier League on Friday, November 28, moving up to third on the table with six points. This was Gorkhas third win in five of their seven league fixtures.
Biratnagar Kings also have six points from four matches but sit second due to a superior net run rate. Sudurpaschim Royals remain unbeaten at the top with eight points. The Rhinos, who suffered their second defeat in four matches, are fourth with four points.
Chasing 143, Chitwan were bundled out for 89 in 17.2 overs at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. Only Dev Khanal and Ravi Bopara reached 21 each, while Sohail Tanvir added 18. No other batter crossed double figures.
Rashid Khan led Kathmandu’s attack with three wickets. Karan KC, Milind Kumar, and Shahab Alam grabbed two apiece, while Santosh Yadav claimed one.
Earlier, Kathmandu posted 142 in 19.4 overs, thanks to John Simpson’s 60 off 29 balls which included five sixes and three fours. Milind Kumar added 38, and Ben Charlesworth made 13. The rest of the lineup fell cheaply.
For Chitwan, Sohail Tanvir took four wickets. Kamal Singh Airee and Ranjit Kumar picked up two each, and Ravi Bopara took one.
The Kings face Karnali Yaks in the second match of the day. The Yaks have won one of their three matches so far.
