The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development has launched a nationwide agricultural survey in coordination with local governments, provincial line ministries and relevant stakeholders.
Ram Krishna Regmi, Chief of the Ministry’s Statistics Section, told the state-owned RSS news agency that a one-door system has been introduced to prevent duplication in data collection.
The survey will gather information on crop and livestock production, input costs, market access, household income, irrigation and agricultural infrastructure.
In the first phase, 600,000 farmers will be selected. Of them, 51,000 will be interviewed in detail to capture their experience, access to government services and subsidies, and the challenges they face.
Findings are expected to be published between January and February 2026.
The Ministry has also rolled out training and capacity-building programmes at the local level to enhance data-collection.
