US Dollar Hits Record High Against Nepali Rupee

The US dollar climbed to a record high against the Nepali rupee on Wednesday, with several other major currencies also gaining, according to the latest exchange rates published by Nepal Rastra Bank.

The central bank said the value of other major foreign currencies, including the euro, pound sterling, Swiss franc and Australian dollar, has also increased.

According to the rates set by the central bank, the buying rate of one US dollar has been fixed at Rs 143.50, while the selling rate stands at Rs 144.10. Similarly, the buying rate of one euro has been set at Rs 166.57 and the selling rate at Rs 167.27. The UK pound sterling is being traded at a buying rate of Rs 189.43 and a selling rate of Rs 190.22, while the Swiss franc has a buying rate of Rs 178.33 and a selling rate of Rs 179.07.

The Australian dollar is being bought at Rs 93.96 and sold at Rs 94.36. Likewise, the Canadian dollar has been fixed at Rs 102.42 for buying and Rs 102.85 for selling, while the Singapore dollar is being traded at a buying rate of Rs 110.56 and a selling rate of Rs 111.02.

For 10 units of the Japanese yen, the buying rate has been set at Rs 9.20 and the selling rate at Rs 9.24. The Chinese yuan is being traded at Rs 20.30 for buying and Rs 20.38 for selling. Similarly, the Saudi Arabian riyal has been fixed at a buying rate of Rs 38.23 and a selling rate of Rs 38.39, while the Qatari riyal stands at Rs 39.38 for buying and Rs 39.54 for selling.

For 100 units of the Indian rupee, the buying rate has been fixed at Rs 160 and the selling rate at Rs 160.15.

Nepal Rastra Bank has stated that the exchange rates can be revised at any time as required. It also noted that the rates fixed by commercial banks may differ, and the updated rates are available on the central bank’s website. -- RSS
