The arson and vandalism targeting Ncell offices during the Gen Z protests on September 9 caused losses of about Rs 650 million, according to the telecom service provider.

Ncell Chairperson Satish Lal Acharya and Chief Executive Officer Michael Foley briefed Minister for Communication and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel about the damage during his visit to the company’s Nakkhu office on Monday, December 8.

The minister assured that the government was prepared to extend necessary support.

Ncell has been operating from its Nakkhu office after its central office in Lainchaur, Kathmandu was vandalised and set ablaze during the protests.

On the occasion, CEO Foley said Nepal’s telecom services had yet to reach international standards and called for policy reforms. Minister Kharel said the government was working to address the policy issues affecting Ncell.
