The government and representatives of the Gen Z movement signed a 10-point agreement at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar on Wednesday evening.
Prime Minister Sushila Karki signed the pact on behalf of the government, while Bhoj Bikram Thapa signed on behalf of those who were killed or injured during the Gen Z demonstrations.
After the signing ceremony, PM Karki said the agreement would serve as a milestone in driving national transformation. “The agreement will guide tomorrow’s wave for change,” she said, adding that it would help strengthen the constitution and prevent future bloodshed and crises. “We are the same group. Gen Z youths are my children, and we all aspire to see them reach state power. Their ideas and thoughts should guide the State. We want a bright future for our children.”
The agreement includes provisions related to good governance, constitutional amendments, and reforms to the electoral system, reflecting the demands raised during the Gen Z movement of September 8–9.
