NEPSE Slips Below 2,600

Only two sectoral indices end higher on December 14, 2025 as market breadth stays negative

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) closed the first trading day of the week in the red, with the benchmark index shedding 0.47 percent, or 12.50 points, to settle at 2,594.87 on Sunday, December 14.

The fall extended a two-week losing streak, during which the index has gained on only one trading day — a 0.28 percent rise last Tuesday.

Trading activity improved compared to the previous day. Total turnover rose to Rs 4.01 billion, with 11.27 million shares exchanged through 60,699 transactions. In the previous trading session, 7.76 million shares were traded in 69,729 transactions, generating a turnover of Rs 3.49 billion.

All three major sub-indices ended lower. The Sensitive Index declined 0.17 percent, the Float Index fell 0.43 percent, and the Sensitive Float Index dropped 0.20 percent.

Market breadth remained negative, with 197 securities declining, 56 advancing, and six remaining unchanged.

Among the gainers, Swastik Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (SWASTIK) hit the upper circuit to lead the market. SY Panel Nepal Limited (SYPNL) followed with a gain of 9.98 percent.

City Hotel Limited (CITY) recorded the steepest loss of the day, falling 6.26 percent.

Kumari Bank Limited Promoter Share (KBLPO) led the turnover chart with Rs 261.85 million worth of transactions. Ngadi Group Power Ltd. (NGPL) and Shivam Cements Ltd. (SHIVM) followed.

Of the 13 sectoral indices, only two closed higher. The Mutual Fund Index rose 0.51 percent, while the Banking Index edged up 0.04 percent. The Hydropower Index posted the largest decline, down 0.93 percent. No sector moved by more than 1 percent.

Total market capitalisation fell to Rs 4,356.84 billion from Rs 4,377.83 billion the previous trading day.
