The price of gold in Nepal’s domestic market climbed further on Monday to reach a record high of Rs 260,700 per tola (11.66 grams).
According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, gold prices rose by Rs 1,900 per tola on Monday from Sunday’s rate of Rs 258,800 per tola.
Gold had been traded at Rs 256,600 per tola on Friday, meaning prices have increased by Rs 4,100 per tola in just two trading days.
Silver prices, meanwhile, increased to Rs 3870 per tola on Monday from Rs 3,825 per tola a day earlier.
Domestic gold prices have remained on an upward trajectory for several weeks, with only brief corrections. The latest surge mirrors global trends, as investors increasingly turn to gold as a safe-haven asset amid fears of global conflict and broader economic uncertainty, international media reports said.
