Finance Minister Rameshore Prasad Khanal has claimed that Nepal’s economy has shown signs of recovery over the past three months, with government revenue increasing by around 10 percent during the period.

Speaking at the inaugural session of the Gorkhapatra Discourse, organised in the capital on Thursday by the Gorkhapatra Corporation and coordinated by the Gorkhapatra Academy, Minister Khanal said recent data indicate that the economy is gradually becoming more dynamic.

Referring to the period following the Gen Z movement, the finance minister said the economy has been on a recovery path. “Revenue has increased by around 10 percent in the past three months. Productivity and production are rising, and even Chinese investors have praised the interim government for initiating reforms and creating a favourable investment environment in a short time,” he said.

Minister Khanal said the government is working in a planned manner to address economic challenges, manage liquidity in the financial system and improve the overall investment climate.

Nepal Rastra Bank Governor Dr Bishwo Nath Paudel stressed the need to prioritise sustainable infrastructure development for long-term growth and said the central bank is prepared to create an environment that enables the government to undertake large-scale spending.

Governor Paudel also encouraged private entrepreneurs to work with high morale and expressed confidence that holding upcoming elections in a fair manner would help ensure political stability.

Gorkhapatra Corporation Managing Director Lal Bahadur Airi said the discourse was organised to fill gaps in the national economic debate through dialogue alongside news reporting, with the aim of addressing challenges and spreading optimism.

According to Airi, the programme titled “Gorkhapatra Discourse on Recovery and Resilience” has been organised for the first time to create a common platform for the private sector, experts, policymakers and stakeholders to hold high-level national discussions on economic recovery, the investment climate and future development strategies, while identifying challenges and opportunities.
