NFPJ Holds 28th AGM, Honours Photojournalists

The National Forum of Photojournalists (NFPJ) Nepal held its 28th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Sunday, December 21, at the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts in Naxal, Kathmandu.

The AGM was held under the chief guestship of Naradmuni Hartamchhali, Chancellor of the Academy.

NFPJ President Pradeep Raj Onta presented the annual report, outlining programmes planned for the current fiscal year and the organisation’s institutional strategies.

He said the coming term would prioritise the social security, professional empowerment, and capacity development of photojournalists. He added that the organisation aims to become more inclusive, stronger, and more effective.

General Secretary Ghanashyam Shrestha presented the progress report for fiscal year 2024/25. He highlighted advances in organisational expansion, capacity building, international cooperation, and the protection of photojournalists’ rights and interests.

Treasurer Pradeep Kumar Shrestha tabled the financial report for fiscal year 2024/25. The AGM unanimously endorsed all reports, NFPJ said.

On the occasion, the ‘Harigopal Pradhan Photojournalism Award’ was presented in five categories. Nabin Babu Gurung received the Adventure Photojournalism Award. Uddhava Shrestha was honoured for Environment and Tourism Photojournalism. Subas Mukhiya Sunuwar received the Entertainment Photojournalism Award. Chandra Kala Kshetri was awarded for Cultural Photojournalism. Shankar Bhujel received the Sports Photojournalism Award.

Similarly, the ‘Madhav Thapa Risky Photojournalism Award’, instituted by former Armed Police Force Deputy Inspector General Madhav Thapa, was presented to NFPJ Secretary Prabin Kulung Rai.

Former presidents, incumbent office bearers, life members, and general members attended the event.
