The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index rose 0.41%, or 10.87 points, to close at 2,633.76 on Wednesday, December 31, the last trading day of 2025.
After three consecutive days of gains, the benchmark index had dipped 0.40% on Monday. The market remained closed on Tuesday in observance of the Tamu Lhosar.
Trading activity surged on Wednesday, with daily turnover reaching Rs 5.13 billion, up from Rs 4.77 billion on Monday and slightly lower than Rs 5.53 billion on Sunday.
More than 11.94 million shares were traded through 63,981 transactions, compared to over 10.03 million shares in 69,548 transactions on the previous trading day.
Among traded securities, 163 advanced, 89 declined, and eight remained unchanged.
All major sub-indices closed higher. The Sensitive Index rose 0.31%, the Float Index gained 0.40%, and the Sensitive Float Index increased 0.28%.
Top gainers included SY Panel Nepal Limited (SYPNL) and Nyadi Hydropower Limited (NYADI), both hitting the upper circuit. SYPNL had also surged 10% on Monday.
Wean Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (WNLB) hit the lower circuit, marking its third consecutive day as the biggest loser.
In terms of turnover, Green Ventures Limited (GVL) led the chart with shares worth Rs 177.90 million traded, followed by Bandipur Cablecar and Tourism Limited (BANDIPUR) and Shreenagar Agritech Industries Limited (SAIL).
All 13 sectoral indices ended higher, led by Manufacturing and Processing, which surged 1.61%. Other sectors recorded gains below 1%, with the Finance Index posting the smallest increase of 0.06%.
