Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has reduced the prices of petrol, diesel, kerosene oil and aviation fuel, effective from Thursday, January 1.
Under the revised rates, the price of petrol has been lowered by Rs 4 per litre, while diesel and kerosene have become cheaper by Rs 5 per litre each. Aviation fuel prices have been reduced by Rs 6 per litre for domestic flights and by USD 42 per kilolitre for international flights in Kathmandu.
Accordingly, the new retail price of petrol has been fixed at Rs 156.50 per litre in the first category, Rs 158 in the second category and Rs 159 in the third category for areas located within 15 kilometres of NOC depots or offices.
Similarly, diesel and kerosene will now cost Rs 134.50 per litre in the first category, Rs 136 in the second category and Rs 137 in the third category.
The first category includes Charali, Biratnagar, Janakpur, Amlekhgunj, Bhalbari, Nepalgunj, Dhangadhi and Birgunj. Surkhet and Dang fall under the second category, while Kathmandu, Pokhara and Dipayal are placed in the third category.
NOC said it has kept the retail price of cooking gas unchanged despite an increase in its purchase cost, citing consumer interest.
The state-run oil monopoly fixes the fuel prices based on the price list it receives from the Indian Oil Corporation, its sole supplier, every fortnight. – With inputs from RSS
