NEPSE Slips 0.39% on Week’s First Trading Day

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index slipped 0.39 percent, or 10.29 points, to close at 2,610.63 on Sunday, January 4, continuing losses from last Thursday when it fell 0.48 percent.

Daily turnover, however, rose to Rs 5.01 billion, up from Rs 4.71 billion recorded on the last trading day.

More than 10.27 million shares changed hands through 79,702 transactions, compared to over 10.15 million shares traded in 64,407 transactions last week.

Market breadth remained negative, with 171 securities declining, 79 advancing, and nine remaining unchanged.

All major sub-indices ended in the red. The Sensitive Index fell 0.70 percent, the Float Index dropped 0.35 percent, and the Sensitive Float Index declined 0.45 percent.

Wean Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (WNLB) and Shreenagar Agritech Industries Limited (SAIL) were the day’s top gainers, hitting the upper circuit limit. WNLB had also topped the gainers’ list on Thursday, bouncing back after three consecutive sessions as the biggest loser.

Nyadi Hydropower Limited (NYADI) recorded the steepest loss, falling 4.32 percent.

SY Panel Nepal Limited (SYPNL) led the market in turnover, with shares worth Rs 306.585 million traded. It was followed by Shreenagar Agritech Industries Limited (SAIL).

Among the 13 sectoral indices, only three ended higher. Manufacturing and Processing gained the most, 1.04 percent, while the Others Index dropped the most, 1.69 percent.

The total market capitalisation stood at Rs 4,383.316 billion on Sunday.
