Crowds gather at the District Police Range in Bhadrakali, Kathmandu, on Friday, January 9, as applicants line up to fill forms for joining the temporary police force, also known as election police, for the House of Representatives elections scheduled for March 5.
Nepal Police has opened a vacancy for 133,980 temporary personnel. Forms can be submitted from January 9 to 15, including public holidays, between 10 am and 4 pm.
Applications are being accepted at the District Police Ranges in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur, as well as at respective district police offices nationwide.
Applicants must be Nepali citizens aged between 18 and 54 by the final application date. They must be physically and mentally fit. Basic reading and writing skills are required and they must not have a criminal conviction or affiliation with any political party.
Male applicants must be at least 5 feet tall, have a chest measurement of 31.33 inches, and weigh at least 50 kg. Female applicants must be at least 4 feet 10 inches tall, weigh at least 42 kg, and must not be pregnant.
Priority, according to police, will be given to retired personnel from the Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police, as well as former forest guards.
Applicants who applied for security force positions in the past year, and those who performed well as temporary police in previous elections, will also be prioritised. Nepali citizens who have retired after serving in security agencies of friendly countries will receive preference as well, according to police.
