The day, marked as National Unity Day, was commemorated with statue cleaning and garlanding ceremonies in various places.
In Kathmandu, an official programme was held in the morning with a wreath-laying ceremony at Prithvi Narayan Shah’s statue in front of the western gate of Singha Durbar.
President Ram Chandra Paudel, Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav, Prime Minister Sushila Karki, and members of the public attended the event.
