NCP Expels Seven Leaders for “Rebellious” Candidacies

The Nepali Communist Party (NCP) on Saturday, January 24, expelled seven leaders for either filing rebel candidacies or supporting such moves, defying the party’s directives ahead of the March 5 elections.

According to a statement jointly issued by Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Co-Coordinator Madhav Kumar Nepal, the expelled leaders are: Haribol Gajurel and Maheshwor Dahal from Sindhuli; Kul Prasad KC from Dang; Major Rai from Udayapur; and Dharmanath Shah, Raj Kumari Shah, and Jibachha Shah from Siraha.

Accusing the party’s central leadership of ignoring district committees’ recommendations, they have put forward candidates of their own choosing.
