The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index inched up 0.18 percent, or 5.08 points, to close at 2,731.59 on Wednesday. The benchmark index had dropped 1.53 percent on Tuesday.
Earlier, the index slipped 0.11 percent on Monday, following gains of 2.12 percent on Sunday and 0.34 percent last Thursday.
A total of 141 stocks advanced during the session, while 112 declined and seven remained unchanged.
The Sensitive Index dipped 0.04 percent. In contrast, the Float Index gained 0.23 percent, while the Sensitive Float Index rose marginally by 0.01 percent.
Trading activity remained subdued compared to the previous session. A total of 23,618,186 shares were traded through 121,992 transactions on Wednesday, generating a turnover of Rs 11.49 billion. On Tuesday, more than 30 million shares had changed hands through 142,476 transactions, with a turnover of Rs 14.16 billion.
Corporate Development Bank Limited (CORBL) and Ankhu Khola Jalvidhyut Company Ltd (AKJCL) emerged as the session’s top gainers after hitting the upper circuit limit.
By turnover, Ankhu Khola Jalvidhyut Company Ltd topped the chart with transactions worth Rs 835.75 million, followed by Radhi Bidyut Company Ltd and SY Panel Nepal Limited.
Of the 13 sectoral indices, five closed in negative territory. The Finance Index posted the highest gain, rising 1.33 percent, while the remaining gainers added less than one percent. The Non-Life Insurance Index recorded the steepest decline, slipping 0.07 percent.
Total market capitalisation increased to Rs 4,586.40 billion on Wednesday from Rs 4,577.87 billion a day earlier.
