Gold Jumps Rs 20,500 to Record Rs 339,300 per Tola

Silver, too, reaches a new high as international prices remain elevated

Gold price surged by Rs 20,500 per tola in the domestic market on Thursday, January 29, with hallmark gold hitting a record high of Rs 339,300 per tola (11.66 grams), according to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association (Fenegosida).

The yellow metal was traded at Rs 318,800 per tola on Wednesday, after standing at Rs 309,300 on Tuesday.

Silver price also climbed to a new record, reaching Rs 7,505 per tola. It was priced at Rs 7,300 on Wednesday, up from Rs 6,870 on Tuesday.

The rise mirrors the surge in the international market.

“Gold extended its blistering rally on Thursday to hit a record just shy of $5,600 an ounce, as investors sought safety amid geopolitical and economic uncertainties, while silver came within a whisker of breaching $120,” reported Reuters. “Spot gold shot up 2.6% to $5,538.69 an ounce by 0349 GMT, after hitting a record $5,591.61 earlier in the day.”

Gold has gained more than 27% this year following a 64% jump in 2025.
