Lokmanya Golchha, Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Poland for Nepal, has been conferred with the prestigious Officer’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland.

The honour was presented by Poland’s Acting Ambassador to India, Piotr Antoni Świtalski, at a ceremony held in Kathmandu. Since Poland does not maintain a permanent embassy in Nepal, all diplomatic and consular services for Nepal are handled through the Polish Embassy in New Delhi.

Golchha has been recognised for his significant role in assisting Polish citizens in Nepal and strengthening bilateral relations between Poland and Nepal. Commenting on the award, he said it symbolises the friendship and mutual respect between the two countries.

The Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland is awarded to foreign nationals or Poles living abroad in recognition of their outstanding services to Poland.

Golchha had previously been awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland for his assistance following the devastating 2015 earthquake in Nepal.
