Industrial activity in the Hetauda Industrial District of Makwanpur has picked up pace, with two new industries beginning operations in recent weeks.
According to Rameshraj Nepal, information officer at the Industrial Districts Management Limited, Precious E-Waste Refinery Pvt Ltd began trial production in mid-January. The company processes discarded electronic goods to extract and produce new metals. Officials say this is likely the first industry of its kind in Nepal.
Similarly, Radhakrishna Synthetic Pvt Ltd has been producing fully plastic sacks since mid-October.
Information Officer Nepal said Nepal Brewery, one of the long-closed industries in the area, is preparing to resume operations under new management within the next few days. Meanwhile, Tripura Industries is planning to start a new tobacco manufacturing unit.
However, two industries — a plastic printing and packaging — have halted production in recent months, citing a lack of investment.
At present, 13 industries are under construction in the industrial district, most of which are in the final stage of completion.
