Italy Crush Nepal by 10 Wickets

Debutants Italy defeated Nepal in the group-stage match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium by 10 wickets on Thursday.

Italy achieved the target of 124 runs without losing any wicket in just 12.4 overs, dealing second successive defeat to Nepal.

Openers Justin Mosca (60) and Anthony Mosca (62) helped Italy cruise to victory with 44 balls remaining.

Justin scored three sixes and five fours while Anthony contributed six sixes and three boundaries for the first wicket partnership.

Earlier, Nepal stumbled with their batting as they were bowled out for 123 in 19.3 overs against Italy in their second Group C match.

After losing the toss, Nepal, batting first, failed to build partnerships and find boundaries under pressure from the Italian bowlers.

Opener Kushal Bhurtel was dismissed for five in the second over, setting the tone for a challenging innings. By the 10th over, Nepal had lost three wickets for 67 runs.

Aarif Sheikh top-scored with 27 off 24 balls, including three fours, while captain Rohit Paudel contributed 23 and Dipendra Singh Airee 17.

Karan KC and Sandeep Lamichhane added 21 runs for the ninth wicket, with Karan remaining unbeaten on 18, hitting one four and one six.

Italy’s Crishan Kalugamage led the bowling attack with three wickets, supported by Ben Manenti (2), and Ali Hasan, JJ Smuts, and Jaspreet Singh (1 each). Nepal also suffered two run-outs, with Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi and Nandan Yadav dismissed in the field.

In the first match, Nepal narrowly lost to two-time champions England by four runs on February 8, chasing 185.

Nepal will next face West Indies on February 15 and Scotland on February 17.
