‘NewBiz Business Women Summit & Awards is a Campaign to Strengthen Women’s Entrepreneurship’

Sabita Subedi, Director of Finance and Administration at New Business Age Ltd., said the NewBiz Business Women Summit & Awards is not merely a one-day event, but an ongoing campaign to strengthen women’s entrepreneurship.

She was addressing the sixth edition of the summit and awards in Kathmandu on Friday, February 13. Launched in 2021, this year’s edition will honour 14 women entrepreneurs across eight categories.

“Over the past years, we have reached diverse geographies and communities across all seven provinces,” Subedi said. “Our efforts have focused on promoting financial literacy among women, building confidence, and planting the seeds of entrepreneurship.”

She said the sixth edition carries the core spirit of women’s entrepreneurial empowerment. The discussions are centred on the theme “Women Powering the Next Economy.”

“The ideas, debates and experiences shared on this platform will help establish women not as supporting actors, but as decisive leaders,” she said.

Subedi, also the general secretary of the Federation of Women Entrepreneurs’ Association of Nepal (FWEAN), said the organisers are confident that the views expressed during the panel discussions will help chart a stronger path for women’s leadership and participation.

Highlighting the award ceremony, she stressed the importance of recognising women who have transformed hope into enterprise, potential into results, and dreams into reality through hard work, courage and vision.

“We are pleased to honour one woman entrepreneur from each of the seven provinces with a cash prize of Rs 51,000,” she said. “We are also recognising other successful women entrepreneurs who have become sources of inspiration through their diverse contributions.”

On the occasion, Subedi expressed special gratitude to Prema Rajya Laxmi Singh, Chairperson of National Life Insurance, for her personal support.

“Our effort may appear small, but our purpose is profound,” Subedi said. “Our objective is to create an environment of dignified opportunities, equal access and sustainable entrepreneurship.”
