Ballot Printing for March 5 Elections Completed

Authorities aim to deliver the ballot papers to all 77 districts within 10 days

Janak Shiksha Samagri Kendra Limited on Monday evening, February 16, completed the printing of ballot papers for the March 5 elections, a task entrusted to it by the Election Commission (EC).

Janak Shiksha’s Managing Director Yadu Nath Paudel said distribution to the provinces would begin from Tuesday. “We completed the printing of 20.3 million first-past-the-post ballots by Monday evening,” Paudel said. “Although the task was scheduled for 42 days, it was finished in 40.”

Authorities aim to deliver the ballots to all 77 districts within 10 days. It had been printing between 1.3 million and 1.5 million ballots daily. Earlier, 1 million sample ballot papers were printed and dispatched to various constituencies.

The transportation of 20.83 million proportional representation ballots to districts is currently underway. Of the 275 members of the House of Representatives, 165 will be elected under the FPTP system and 110 through proportional representation.

Nepal has 18,903,689 eligible voters for the upcoming polls, an increase of 915,119 compared to the previous election. Paudel added ballot delivery to Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces has already been completed.
