Bhatbhateni’s Maharajgunj Outlet Back in Business

The Bhatbhateni Supermarket outlet in Maharajgunj reopened to the public on Thursday, February 26, 2026, months after it was vandalised and set on fire during the Gen Z-led demonstrations on September 9, 2025.

The store resumed operations after a special prayer ceremony, attended by Min Bahadur Gurung, chairman and managing director of the supermarket chain.

Around a dozen Bhatbhateni outlets across the country suffered arson, vandalism and looting during the September protests. The Koteshwor branch has already resumed operations after reconstruction.

Bhatbhateni aims to bring all damaged outlets back into operation before the Dashain festival in October.

The company incurred losses worth billions of rupees during the September unrest.
