The Election Commission has pledged to complete the counting of votes within 24 hours of commencing it.
Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari made the announcement during a press conference organized by the Election Commission on the eve of the House of Representatives election.
Speaking at the press conference, Bhandari said efforts are being made to conclude the counting as quickly as possible.
"We will publish the results of the first-past-the-post (FPTP) elections within 24 hours of the start of counting votes," Bhandari stated.
He also informed that preparations are being made to count the votes for the proportional representation (PR) system simultaneously with the FPTP votes.
The House of Representatives election is scheduled to take place on March 5.
