Ranju Neupane of the Rastriya Swatantra Party has won the Kathmandu-1 constituency, getting 15,455 votes, as the party continues to lead in nearly four dozen constituencies nationwide.
Prabal Thapa Chhetri of the Nepali Congress, her closest rival, secured 6,364 votes, while Rabindra Mishra of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party received fewer than 4,000 votes.
The result marks Mishra’s third consecutive defeat in the constituency.
Earlier, in 2017, Neupane contested the mayoral election of Kathmandu Metropolitan City at the age of 21. She also served as the general secretary of the Bibeksheel Sajha Party.
