Passport issuance services may be disrupted for several weeks as the Department of Passports prepares to migrate to a new system.
In a notice issued on Thursday, March 12, the department said the transition could take one to two months to complete.
During the interim period, passport services provided within the country and through Nepal’s diplomatic missions abroad may be affected for one to three weeks.
The department added that the new system may take one to three months to stabilise after it is implemented.
Authorities have urged individuals who need passports within the next six months to apply in advance, warning that services could face delays during the transition.
The department has not set a specific date for launching the new system. It said the date, along with temporary arrangements during the transition, will be announced in a separate notice.
