27th Flora Expo to Begin in Kathmandu on March 19

Organisers expect about 60,000 visitors and business transactions worth over Rs 12 million

The 27th Flora Expo is set to be held at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu from March 19 to 22.

Organised by the Floriculture Association Nepal (FAN), the four-day event will feature 83 stalls. These include 65 commercial stalls, 11 official stalls, and several competitive and food stalls.

Seasonal flowers, ornamental plants, cut flowers, dried flowers and orchids will be displayed and sold at the expo. Compost fertilisers, seeds and modern farming technologies will also be showcased.

According to FAN, Nepal’s floriculture sector has expanded to 52 districts. Total investment in the industry has exceeded Rs 8.83 billion.

The sector recorded a turnover of Rs 3.68 billion in fiscal year 2023/24, according to FAN. However, it is  expected to have declined to around Rs 3.37 billion in fiscal year 2024/25.

Organisers say the expo will help promote domestic production and support import substitution while encouraging exports.

Around 60,000 visitors are expected to attend the event. Organisers also expect business transactions worth more than Rs 12 million during the expo.

Competitions will be held to select the best stall, best nursery and best flowers in various categories.

As part of its social responsibility initiatives, a blood donation programme will be organised at the venue on March 20, said expo coordinator Ram Bahadur Tamang.
