Construction of Selang Khola Hydropower Commences

November 29: The construction of Selang Hydropower project located at Selang river on Sindhupalchowk has commenced with a target to conclude the project by January 2018. After the conclusion of the project, it will be generating 990MW electricity. The project is being developed by Rising Hydropower Company. "It is estimated to cost Rs 190.5 million in which the company will be investing Rs 63 million and remaining amount of Rs 127.5 million will be financed by Sanima Bank," said Mithun Poudel, Managing Director of the company.

According to the company, the water of Selang river will be sent to the power station through constructing 12 meter long dam, 300 meter long tunnel and 1250 meters long penstock pipe. The company plans to generate 990KW electricity by pouring 440 litres of water from 270 meters of height.
