13th Footware Expo from December 20

December 19: The 13^th National Industrial Expo of footwear and leather products '13^th Footwear Expo 2016' is starting from December 20 at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu. The expo is organised by Footwear Manufacturers' Association of Nepal.

The expo which is being organised with the main slogan 'Aatmanirvartako Aadhar, Swadesi Bastu ko Prayog' will last for 1 week," said Manoj Kumar Shrestha, Convenor of the expo. As per the organiser, the expo is aimed at making the country self-reliant in leather products. The expo is scheduled to be inaugurated by Vice-President Nanda Kishor Pun.  

In a press conference, Shrestha highlighted about the present scenario of the Nepali leather products. He said that the business of leather related products dropped by 42 per cent in the last FY. He also informed that the industry provide nearly 300,000 direct and indirect employments.

According to the organiser, the expo will provide 15 per cent discount in all leather related products.  The expo will have a total of 125 stalls with free passage to students, differently-able and senior citizens.  

Gold Star Shoes and Hatti Chaap Chappals are the golden sponsors of the expo. The other sponsors are Royal Shoes, Magic Footwear, Run Shoes, Rhino Shoes and Hilife Chappals. The expo is supported by Trade and Export Promotion Centre and Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industries.
