Kokhajor Project to be the 1st HEP to be constructed under MoE

December 27: There is a high possibility of Kokhajor Hydropower Project to be the first hydropower project constructed under Ministry of Energy (MoE). Hydropower Production Company under MoE is going to construct the project in the first phase. Janardan Sharma, Energy Minister who went to Sindhuli for the feasibility study of the project informed about it.

Feasibility on the construction of a reservoir project has been identified on the Kokhajor River situated at the boarder of Sindhuli and Kavrepalanchowk districts. The capacity of the hydropower project is estimated to be 111MW. The locals of Sindhuli are pressurizing the government for early construction of the hydropower.  Kokhajor is the one of the 50 projects indentified as big and pumped storage projects of Nepal in 5^th International Conference on Water resources and Hydropower development in Asia held in Sri Lanka on 2014.
