Ghimire Appointed IB President

December 30: The government has appointed Dr Rabindra Ghimire as the Chairman of Insurance Board (IB). The meeting of council of minister which took place on December 29 decided for his appointment as the Chairman. Ghimire, who is a PhD in Insurance, is the Assistant Professor in Pokhara University. Though a formal announcement regarding his appointment has not been made, he is flooded by congratulation messages in his social media site.  

During the meeting of council of ministers which took place on Thursday morning, Finance Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara recommended Dr Ghimire, Ramesh Kumar Bhattarai and Chiranjivi Chapagain for the post. Nonetheless, the meeting failed to derive a conclusion due to the disagreement between the ministers. Dr Ghimire is considered to be close to the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist-Centre).The post of IB Chairman was vacated since December 22 after the end of the tenure of Prof Dr Fatta Bahadur KC.
