UK Delegate visits Nepal Clearing House

January 26: A delegate of United Kingdom recently visited Nepal Clearing House and took information about clearing system of Nepali financial market. Dr. Andrew Parmley, Mayor of city of London, Richard Morris, UK Ambassador to Nepal, Sherrif Peter Estlin, other delegates and representatives from Sakchyam Access to Finance visited NCHL Office at Kamaladi, Kathmandu.

The intent of the visit was to understand the current status of payment systems development in Nepal and the progress that NCHL has achieved till date including its future roadmaps. The representatives also observed the live transactions from NCHL’s electronic cheque clearing (NCHL-ECC) and the interbank payment (NCHL-IPS) systems. The delegates had an interaction with the team and showed a keen interest in the payment systems operated by NCHL and even inquired on any possible support.

"The visit has given an additional impetus to NCHL to achieve its objectives by implement international standard payment systems in Nepal," reads the statement issued by NCHL. 

 The UK Government through its UKaid/ DIFID has been supporting Nepal to improve the status of its access to finance and financial sector development.
