March 2: NIC Asia bank has started deprived community loan scheme. Issuing a press statement, the bank informed that it started the scheme with an objective to provide financial services to farmers and business community of rural areas. Chiranjibi Nepal, Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank inaugurated the service by handing over a loan approval paper of Rs 700,000 to Kumari Damai, a customer for poultry farming in “Financial Awareness: National Campaign” program organized by the bank in Attaria, Kailali.
“All procedure has been completed to meet the 2 per cent deprived community direct investment cap required by NRB. The scheme is launched to provide easy loan to farmers, micro enterprenuers/businessmen of rural areas,” said Laxman Risal, CEO of the bank. The bank said that the scheme will be beneficial to small businessmen, farmers and women who lack investment to start businesses in the rural areas.
