July 3: Farmers of Parbat have received motivational grants from the Prime Minister’s Agriculture Modernization Project. According to the District Agriculture Development Office (DADO), Parbat, the grants were distributed under a project to encourage farmers not to keep their land fallow. This is the first time such project has been initiated in the district. Farmers who planted paddy in the month of Chaitra or the year-end according to the Nepali calendar were provided the amount.
Senior agriculture development officer Basudev Regmi said that the office distributed Rs 100,000 to 400 farmers of Paiyu VDC. The district has a total of 28,600 hectares of cultivable land. Among them, farmers plant paddy annually in 9070 hectares of land while they cultivate seasonal paddy during the year-end in 700 hectares of land.
