Energy Ministry Launches Hotline Service

September 5: The Ministry of Energy has launched a 24-hour hotline service to address the complaints of the people regarding electricity problems. Organising a function at the ministry on Monday, September 4, Energy Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi inaugurated the toll-free number 1151 where public can register their complaints about electricity problems.

Minister Shahi daid that the hotline service has been initiated with a view to take suggestions and address the problems of the public directly by the ministry.

‘The relation between the government and the people has become like that of the ruling party and the opposition due to due to the ineffectiveness of the services provided by the government. In order to address this problem, we have adopted a new approach by inaugurating the hotline service,” said Minister Shahi.

According to the minister, the initiative was an attempt to connect the people directly with the government.

He further said that there are lots of units under the Ministry of Energy but the Nepal Electricity Authority was the body having direct link with the people.  The minister noted that due to its direct connection with the people, there were more complaints against the NEA. He further said that the ministry would work together with the NEA to address the problems of the people.
