Daman’s View Tower to Come into Operation Again

September 17: Daman’s municipality has called for a tender to resume operation of the hill station’s famed Everest View Tower which was built six decades ago. The municipality has decided to hand over the operation of the tower to any hotel operator who would provide Rs 500,050 annually to the municipality.

Dharan’s Thaha Municipality Chief  Labeshwar Bista said that the responsibility of operating the tower will be handed to hotel and tourism entrepreneur.  The view tower, which was under the tourism ministry for a long time, was handed over to the Makwanpur District Development Committee six years ago. The current municipal chief Bista took over the responsibility of the tower three years ago. The view tower had remained closed after sustaining damages during the April 25, 2015 earthquake. Bista informed that the tower has already been renovated and is currently under the jurisdiction of the municipality.

The Everest View Tower in Daman of Makwanpur district is 75 kilometers away from Kathmandu and 55 kilometers from Hetauda.
