November 2: Annapurna region’s popular tourist destinations Ghorepani and Poonhill are full of visitors this season.
Located in the Annapurna Circuit, many tourists prefer these two places to the view of mountain ranges and sunrise from Ghorepani and Poonhill.
Around 500 domestic and foreign tourists visit Poonhill, situated at an altitude of 3,210 meters from the sea level on a daily basis, on daily basis. With the start of autumn, the hotels at Ghorepani, which serves as an entrance to Poonhill, are getting packed.
According to Ghodepani Tourist Police Station, 5,835 foreign tourists have entered Ghorepani till October 14 this year. There are 22 hotels and lodges providing services to the tourists at Ghorepani.
Sushil Pun, vice-president of Ghorepani Hotel Management Sub-committee, said that the hotel entrepreneurs are expanding their capacity keeping in view the flow of tourists.
Meanwhile, the locals in coordination with Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) have initiated a campaign for rhododendron conservation in the region.
