The Ministry of Labour and Transport Management (MoLTM) is seeking India’s backing to issue smart card. According to Deepak Subedi, Joint-Secretary of MoLTM, assistance from India is sought because of Nepal’s inexperience about the
types and use of smart card. “Now the Indian government is issuing smart card for the insurance of people living below the poverty line. We will study that card before we make our own,†he says.
