March 29: In a bid to expand communication service in rural areas of the nation, Nepal Telecom has started its GSM mobile service at Gamaladanda and Lhoma of Gorkha district.
Nepal Telecom said it started providing the service through BTS tower installed at Chunurwi Rural Municipality-3 of Gamaladanda. Likewise, the company had installed the tower at Lhoma of the same municipality about a week ago. According to the company, the BTS tower of Gamaladanda will facilitate the people residing in Lakpaal, Yarufant, Jagat, Salleri, Bhaluvan, Pati, Fidim while the tower of Lhoma will benefit the people of Lho, Khyala, Syo, Li of the district.
The tower is operated through solar energy, said the company. Pratibha Vaidya, spokesperson of the company, informed that the service will be operated in both places through satellite link. Nepal Telecom informed that the company will distribute 500 sim cards and 350 sim cards free of cost to the customers of Lhoma and Gamaladanda respectively.
